“When watching eagles take flight there are times when I’m convinced that the bird will never leave the ground! While they are so graceful in flight, they, like all living things, are bound to the Earth in their need for food, water, and shelter. Thus, we titled this sculpture Earthbound.”

As artists, the collaboration of Gene and Rebecca Tobey was a breath of fresh air. The two created a style of art that is entirely unique and distinctive. Because of its ingenious simplification of sculptural imagery, and use of sgraffito, the Tobey design is instantly recognizable. Gene & Rebecca created their own symbolic language pulling from Native American imagery and their own experiences.
